Other: Nevermet's Call for Submission - Stories in the Ether
Nevermet Press, where I am an contributor and collaborator, is accepting submissions for their fantasy anthology of short and flash fiction;
This new anthology will represent a compelling collection of short stories and flash fiction that were first published online in the fantasy, science fiction, and steampunk genres. Stories In The Ether will be published individually through Nevermet Press as a blog series, and later as a collected print, PDF, ePub and audio anthology for fans to enjoy offline or through other means.
Now Accepting Submissions
Starting today we are accepting submissions of short stories (i.e. stories that can be read in one sitting, about 25,000 words or less) and flash fiction (i.e. stories that can be read over a cup of coffee, about 3,000 words or less) for inclusion into the Stories in the Ether blog series and anthology. The published anthology, titled “Stories In The Ether: Volume 1“, will be published in early 2012.

Essay: Lessons from Recent Movies
Episode 11 – Three Movies;
- This is another out-of-character blog entry, here discussing what three movies offer to gamers.
- Mission London is a fun Bulgarian film about hiring stripper doubles for the English Royal family, something character should do sometime.
- Bird on a Wire is about the Canadian musician Leonard Cohen, its lesions are to remain open to the possibility of the unexpected miracle and while a miracle might turn the impossible into the possible, it is still up to you to do the work
- Skeletons is an intriguing film, largely free from exposition, about psychics and it is about the people and not the powers, something important to remember – it is about living, not special effects.

Videos and Images: Semi-Naked People
So, while I was on vacation last week – and mostly away from easy, or at least 24/7, internet access – a trend went around in the RPG end of the blog-o-sphere of posting images of semi-naked people to drive up viewer hits.
Far be it from me to resist such a trend, even if I am coming into it late. As such, below is my response to beautiful, semi-naked people elsewhere. I am certain I am getting this right and not misunderstanding anything or omitting any important details.

Fiction: What’s Your Favorite Ice Cream?
An upbeat jingle, “The only emperor is the emperor of ice-cream,” turned tinny by the speakers, played as the truck rolled down the Georgetown, Texas, residential street that August afternoon. A dozen children, accompanied by some adults, emerged from nearby homes.

Grumpy RPG Column: A Birthday Column
A column where I discuss my birthday thoughts.
Episode 10 – Birthday Thoughts
- Grumpy Celt has turned 138, he lives a long time by avoiding birthdays the way someone might avoid a process server.
- As an aging gamer, shares his thoughts on the hobby.
- Be cautious about admitting to participating in the hobby.
- Leave a bad group.
- The RPG hobby still treats women and minorities poorly compared to how it treats white males.
- Gaming, as a do-it-your-self hobby, may improved by the individual gamer.
- If you fuck up, admit it.
